Han-Louis Meijer (Amsterdam 1956) has studied piano at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam with Professor Jan Wijn where he obtained his soloist-certificate in 1980.
His previously hidden preference for accompanying was noticed by Professor Hans Broekman and at his invitation Han-Louis Meijer qualified in Accompaniment in 1982.
Han-Louis Meijer participated in masterclasses with Felix de Nobel, Ton de Leeuw, Rudolf Jansen, Herman Krebbers, Robert Hall, Udo Reinemann, NoŽl Lee, Sandor Vegh and others. He was asked to be one of the accompanists during the master classes by Elisabeth Swarzkopf in 1984 and 1986 and also as accompianist at the International Vocalists Concours in 's-Hertogenbosch.
He made his debut as a soloist in 1988 in the great Hall of the Concertgebouw with the world premiere of the Concerto for piano and Harmony Orchestra by Leo Smit.
He works for years together with Marion Roberts, Frans Fiselier, Leo Geerts., Harry van der Plas, Ruxandra Voda and Marten Smeding. Han-Louis Meijer has been the permanent pianist of the worldfamous soprano Cristina Deutekom since 1989.From 1992 till 1994 he worked as assistant conductor with the Netherlands Opera and he has been a teacher and vocal coach at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague since 1994.
Han-Louis Meijer performed with celebrities as soprano Inessa Galante, mezzo-soprano Gail Gilmore, tenors Neil Shicoff and Bruno Sebastian, bass-baritone Edmund Tolliver and master violinist Maxim Vengerov.
In 2010, Han-Louis Meijer recorded his first solo CD in the studio Mirasound, with works by Schubert, Chopin, Liszt and Gershwin.
